Preparing Your Workplace for Peer Integration

Employers require ongoing evaluation, guidance, strategies, tools, and support to achieve a truly integrated workforce that welcomes and values peer specialists and their unique contributions. Incorporating peer specialists can be a confusing task for all stakeholders. This webinar will provide a broad overview of how organizational leadership, managers, and supervisors can prepare or improve their workplace for integrating peer specialists. Webinar participants will be able to: 

  • Identify competencies for peer employers. 
  • Describe recovery orientation.
  • Develop a plan to successfully prepare their workplace for peer employees. 

Meet the Speaker

Stephanie Ramos (she/her), Communications Director, Cal Voices

Stephanie Ramos is a family member of someone living with a severe mental illness. She has served as Youth Advocate, Family Coordinator, Director of Education, and now Communications Director for Cal Voices over the course of 16 years. Her work has included grassroots local advocacy efforts in Sacramento on various boards and committees, including serving as co-chair of the County Mental Health Services Act (MHSA) Steering Committee. She has facilitated numerous focus groups for peers and TAY in the Public Mental Health System (PMHS) and works with employers across California to implement and improve peer support programs. Stephanie has provided training throughout the PMHS for many years on a number of concepts and modules. Her acumen for understanding organizational culture and shared decision-making related to the MHSA Community Planning Process brings added value to Cal Voices.
