(Alexandria, VA) – Schroeder Stribling, president and CEO of Mental Health America, issued the following statement today:

“Mental Health America applauds Congress for passing the Respect for Marriage Act, which President Biden today signed into law. LGBTQ+ people have overcome many obstacles, and we celebrate this moment which holds promise for the mental health of this community. We are pleased that this law extends to protect interracial marriages, proving once again that love wins. Millions of Americans will be relieved of stress and anxiety today knowing that their marriages and their families are now protected by equal rights and equal recognition under federal law.”
